At the core of our service offerings, is the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMISM), is the second generation of a process improvement methodology pioneered at Carnegy Mellon University and proven at NASA, the US Department of Defense, and Boing Inc. to name a few. Though primarily employed by software houses, the CMMI model of process improvement can benefit engineering practices, systems integrators or even in-house IS organisations. The model provides a means to assess current capabilities and guide an organisation along a path of improvement. Surety Partners offers three different CMMI-based process improvement services to provide Clients, the opportunity to learn and apply the CMMI model to their organisations:

CMMI training
– From an overview seminar for senior management, through an introduction to CMMI, to more in-depth treatments of topics such as configuration management, Surety Partners is developing a variety of courses to expose Clients and the local software development community to CMMI and assist their process of learning and its adoption to their organisations. Courses can be delivered in-house on the Client's premises or hosted by Surety Partners in conjunction with the Software Process Improvement Network (SPIN). Surety Partners is also developing developing CMMI and other software process improvement courses to be offered through the Information Technology Centre (ITC) at the University of New Brunswick.

CMMI assessments
– To know where you are going, it helps to know where you are. When an organisation embarques on the CMMI road to process improvement, an initial assessment is performed to determine the maturity level at which a organisation currently stands. Subsequent assessments are conducted periodically to benchmark the evolution of process and to enable the organisation to measure its strengths and weaknesses at a given juncture.

Software process consulting
– Surety Partners work with our Clients to enable them to produce higher quality software that better meets the needs of their customers and that arrives on time and on budget. We provide a wide range of software process services ranging from project scoping and planning through execution, or, if necessary, project recovery. Though proponents of the CMMI model of process management, Surety Partners has experience and familiarity with several software practices and through an emphasis on individual developer skills, collaboration, and technical excellence we can assist our Clients in achieving the best quality and productivity from their team.
